In my opinion anyone who is willing to explore woodlands for hours on end to find wild mushrooms and plants, are the kind of visitors the Cairngorms National Park needs. Generally, I find that anyone with an interest in mushrooms and wild foraging, are the type of people who pick up discarded rubbish, spend money in local butchers and farmers markets and most importantly respect the Scottish Mushroom Picking Code.

Just the kind of people needed to make Cairngorms National Park what it should be. No doubt I will upset some local mushroom gathers, but I think the more people we invite to experience the National Park, whether for fungi forging or just taking a stroll the better. Because of this I have developed a secret (well semi secret!) Wild Fungi Map, on this map you will see little shroom icons, click on the icon and it will give you a picture, summary and other information on the mushrooms likely to be found in this area dependant on season. I also supply information on other edible plants and berries found in the area.
