Want to know more about the damselflies and dragonflies that can be found in your local area? Then come along to our workshop, which will help you recognise the 13 damselfly and dragonfly species found in the Cairngorms National Park and identify the types of habitats preferred by each animal.

10.00 Coffee & Registration
1015-12:30 Indoor session covering: -
Introduction to the world of damselflies and dragonflies. Adult Identification and life cycle. Larvae identification. Recording, habitat needs, health & safety and National Atlas –
1215-1300 Lunch (bring own packed lunch, as lunch will be outdoors heading to the field)
1300-1630 Survey field session in the Aviemore area
The course will be delivered by Stephen Corcoran (an experienced Odonatanist). The afternoon session will involve an outdoor site visit, so please wear appropriate footwear and waterproofs – wellington boots are advised. If you have a large-holed colander please bring that for searching for dragonfly larvae. Places on the workshop are limited and advance booking is required.
