What's on at CairnGorm Mountain over the Next Week from Friday 27th July 2007
New Events This Week... "Early Bird Walk" Friday 27th July and 2nd August. A guided walk with the Ranger that begins at 8am from the Ranger Base at CairnGorm, takes you through the Mountain Garden up onto Windy Ridge path to the plateau and on to the summit finishing at the Top Station at approx 11am. £10 per person (which includes down travel on the mountain railway). Must be pre booked by credit card by 4pm on the previous day on 01479 861341 as places are limited. This walk takes place every Friday until the 31st August.
"Behind the Scenes at CairnGorm Mountain" Tuesday 31th July and Thursday 2nd August. An opportunity to get behind the scenes at the UK's highest railway and find out more about how it works, how it was built, the rope work, braking and safety systems. The guided tour starts at 9.00am in the Base Station ticket office and takes you to areas restricted to the public and includes a visit the sub platform level in the Base Station and the power plant room and control room at the Top Station. Tour length approx 1 hr 15 mins. Adult £15, Child under 16 £7.50. This includes Visitor Guide, Fact Sheet and Funicular Railway Ticket. Spaces are strictly limited and must be pre booked by calling: 01479 861341. This tour will take place every Tuesday and Thursday until the end of August.
Evening Events At CairnGorm Mountain Sunset Dining at the Ptarmigan - the highest restaurant in the UK. Places still available on Friday 27th July. Saturday 28th July and Friday 3rd August are fully booked.
Highland Fling Ceilidh Night takes place every Thursday night in the Top Station at CairnGorm. This night is really popular so book early - you can also book it online. Guided Mountain Walks This Week Monday 30th July. "Journey into the Cairngorms" - A chance to discover some unfamiliar territory. Come to the ranger base at 10.30 (walk returns at 4.00) prepared for some mountain walking (mountain kit, boots and lunch essential). £5 per adult (accompanied children free)
Tuesday 31th July. "Summit Walk to the top of CairnGorm" with Interpration expert Jim Cornfoot, this walk begins at 10am. All walks depart from the Ranger Base at Coire Cas andbooking is essential - call 01479 861341. Spey 2007 Walk and Ceilidh Night - 8th August
Midnight Meteorite Walks - 11th and 12th August Diggers are at work around the Coire Cas Car Park, this work is the start of the new Arts Project landscape initiative. This project will take approximately 2 months and may involve some disruption in and around the car park area but customers will still be able to park their cars and enjoy the train and mountain facilities.
Train is open daily from 10am (10.30 on Wednesdays) and tickets can be purchased on line at http://www.cairngormmountain.co.uk/buy-tickets-online/.
